Ajmer exists as an oasis in desert region of Rajasthan. Surrounded by barren Hills, Ajmer is a witness to many dynasties making it a blend of Hindu-Islamic culture. The Sufi culture of the city is remarkable synthesis of brotherhood.

Located 135 km Southwest of Jaipur is the most sacred places of Muslim pilgrimage in India . The revered Sufi saint, Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti, who came to Ajmer from Persia in 1192, died in 1236 and was buried here. His tomb, the Ajmer Dargah is visited by lakhs of Muslims and Hindu devotees every year. The shrine was erected by Humayun. The Dargah also has mosques which were built by Shah Jahan, Jahangir and Akbar. The tomb attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year on the death anniversary of the saint, which falls in the seventh month of the lunar calendar. It is also the venue for the famous Urs festival. The annual urs witness donations made by devotees. These donations are later distributed among poor.

The Shopping speciality of Ajmer is traditional Silver Jewelery and Jodhpuri Juttis.
