Aurangabad was founded by Malik Ambar, Wazir (Prime Minister) of Murtaza Nizam Shah II, in 1610. Aurangzeb became the Viceroy of the Deccan during Shah Jahan reign, he made it his capital, and named it Aurangabad . The city originally came to existence in before 2 BC when Maurya rulers had a huge empire in India .
